Planning for solar cells on Dome

Sverrir and Sepp mounting the pyanometers around the Dome.

In preparation of mounting solar panels on the Dome next year we have installed 8 pyranometers around the Dome and 2 on the top of the Cupola to monitor the incoming solar radiation. It is a project in collaboration with DTU and is part of the Greenland Integrated Observing System program to improve our mobile ice drilling station. We will monitor the coming 18 days until we close the camp.

What we did today:

  1. Five drill runs from Monday 7 pm to Tuesday 7 pm. Logger’s depth at 7 pm: 2363.92 m. Logged core: 16.60 m.
  2. Processing in science trench. Last bag packed: 4144: Production: 29.70 m.
  3. Seismic program at shear zone finalized.
  4. Pit samples for mercury in progress, 2 m depth.
  5. Pyranometers installed on Dome.

21 in camp (since July 26th)
