Packing and repairing loggers

Darryn with the loggers in the dome.

While waiting for the rock drill to arrive Friday July 14th we are working on the borehole loggers and constructing a way to clean the bottom part of the borehole so we can lower the camera down again. The football table has become the logger workshop. The Danish new logger has been maintained so the broken cables to the temperature sensor and lower caliber, the shortened linear transducer in the lower caliber and the ability to use the Impact Subsea software to calibrate the logger has been repaired. Thanks, Derryn and Martin. The Chinese logger has some modem problems Nan and Martin are working on. The borehole vacuum cleaner was successfully tested by our Dream Team, Steff and Trevor, and we are ready to deploy the setup tomorrow.
In the evening the wind dropped and the sky was blue so Trevor went skiing, Martin snowboard kiting and Meg, Jinhwa and Aira went sledging on the winter hills.

What we did today:

  1. Tested and repaired loggers.
  2. Constructed and tested part of rock drill to be used as vacuum cleaner of bottom of borehole.
  3. Packed AWI equipment in the Science trench.
  4. Groomed skiway.
  5. Packed drill boxes.
  6. Finalized using the snowblower to open all ramps (trenches, freezer, concert hall).
  7. Enjoyed the sunny evening with skiing, kiting and sledging.

Weather today: Low clouds and groundfog in the morning clearing during the day to scattered clouds and blue sky in the evening. Wind between 4 kt and 10 kt mainly from W. Temperatures between -14°C and -4°C.
